ČESMAD Slovakia: Custom Website with CMS and Mailchimp Integration
How we designed and built a custom web portal for the road transport association, including a custom CMS, content categories, a member section with permissions and automatic Mailchimp audience synchronization.
- We designed and built a custom web portal for ČESMAD Slovakia without template compromises and around the association’s real processes.
- The delivery included a custom CMS where the editorial team manages pages, news, categories and documents without developer help.
- The portal separates public and member-only content using roles, permissions and membership categories.
- We connected the portal to Mailchimp via API so contacts and segments stay up to date automatically.
- Since launch in 2021, we have continuously maintained, updated and developed the website.
Starting point: a professional association needed more than a template website
The ČESMAD Slovakia website is not only a presentation site. It is an operational tool for industry news, member services, documents, announcements and communication with the member base. A standard template would cover these needs only partially.
Solution: a custom-built portal
We started by analysing how the association works with content and communicates with members. That shaped the information architecture, visual layer and content types around real operational needs.
The custom CMS lets the editorial team manage content, documents, categories and publishing without waiting for a supplier. The member section uses roles and permissions so the right groups see the right content.
The Mailchimp API integration automatically synchronizes contacts and segments, so newsletters use current lists without manual copying.
Technical solution
- Custom CMS for the portal’s specific content types
- Editorially managed content categories
- Users, roles and permissions for controlled member access
- Mailchimp API integration for automatic contact synchronization
- Responsive frontend for desktop and mobile
- Backups, updates and monitoring as part of long-term support
- Independence in content management
- Structure and design shaped around association needs
- Member content controlled by roles and categories
- Automated communication through Mailchimp
- Stability through a long-term supplier
Key takeaways
- A CMS should serve the editorial team, not the other way around.
- Permissions need to be designed at the architecture stage.
- Integrations save work every day.
- A website is a living system that needs long-term maintenance.
Our approach:
A custom website makes the most sense as a long-term relationship: design around how the organization really works, then maintain and develop the solution as it grows.
